The Gibson Music Retreat in New York City is an opportunity to get paid to hone your musical craft. RocketHub has partnered with renowned music brand, Gibson Guitar, to give one talented musical artist or band this unique and exclusive LaunchPad Opportunity.

The chosen musical artist or band will receive:

  1. Access to New York City’s Gibson/Baldwin Showroom
  2. A $1,000 cash stipend from RocketHub
  3. A week of music industry pop-ins.

The Location: The Retreat will be hosted at the prestigious Gibson/Baldwin New York City Showroom located in Midtown Manhattan. Once known as the Hit Factory, this historic location is where Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, Tony Bennett, Madonna, Jay-Z, Santana, Sting, Barbra Streisand, U2, and Stevie Wonder cut their hits. You can feel the musical legacy and coolness in the walls – and it will be yours for a week.

The selected artist will have access to Gibson guitars, basses, pianos, amps, and other cool gear.

The Paycheck: $1,000 to do what you love for a week with no strings attached? That’s right! RocketHub will pay $1,000 to one musical artist or band for a week’s worth of musical experimentation: you can hone your craft, write new tunes, or just practice in a historic setting.

The Opportunity: In addition to doing your thing at the Showroom, Gibson, Baldwin, and RocketHub have arranged for a few industry pop-ins, chats, and listens. Notable visitors will include music video producer and director for the likes of Madonna and the Gypsy Kings, Ed Steinberg, indie-management and PR icon, Eric de Fontenay, and others. The goal is to get you heard.

The Details: The four-day Retreat will take place from April 18th through the 21st. To upload your submission, choose the song and image that best represent your music and gather a short bio. Only one submission per artist or band – so make it count.

  • Robert Schober

    Robert Schober (aka Roboshobo) - Music Video Director Robo has directed music videos for such artists as Metallica, Disturbed, My Chemical Romance, Deftones, Meat Puppets, The Blood Brothers, and The B-52's. His 2009 video for Mastodon's "Divinations" was named as one of Paste Magazine's 50 Best Music Videos of the Decade.

  • Billy Zero

    Billy Zero - Trustee for The Grammys® Billy runs Chemistry Management and was instrumental in discovering bands such as Good Charlotte, Stellastarr*, Jimmie's Chicken Shack and many others. Billy is a Trustee for the D.C. Chapter of The Recording Academy® – which is globally renown for producing the Grammy Awards.

  • Eric de Fontenay

    Eric de Fontenay – President of MusicDish Eric launched MusicDish at the dawn of the digital music scene in 1997. He has since worked with hundreds of indie artists, established the largest online music newswire, hosted "Listen Liberally" and Digital Music NY, as well as expanded the MusicDish brand into China and Europe.
